Generating value through sustainable, cutting-edge technology.

Reimagining Blockchain

Nowadays, blockchain technology can be linked to much more than just crypto assets. Its rise in the past decade has lead to multiple interesting applications across economic sectors. But have we really met its full potential? No. Using blockchain, we can speed up digitalization in the private and public sector in a secure and sustainable way.

The private sector

Especially midsized companies are way behind in digitalizing their operations. Transforming a whole sector at ones, blockchain provides a unique opportunity in coordinating cashflows, tracking goods and services and manage contracts while simultaneously establishing the highest possible level of security. In particular for internationally operating businesses the inclusion of blockchain into their operational structure poses a fundamental opportunity. No transaction fees, no currency exchange tax and everything is controlled by itself. No payment will be sent without fulfilment of the contract, customs can be handled more rapidly, securities can be backed up instantaneously. A benefit for both buyer and seller.

The public sector

Processing applications and requests in most countries is a tedious and protracted process. A state driven blockchain could be the solution here. Not only could application forms and documents be generated much easier and uniformly, the decentralized network is practically immune agains cyber attacks and hence provides excellent data security. Using blockchain for instance for the vehicle licensing administration would make it impossible to fake documents for stolen cars. Moreover, transition of ownership could be handled digitally in no time, directly updating the corresponding office via the blockchain so that the transaction is securely certified. One of many applications state owned blockchain can unfold its potential.

The Future of Air/conditioning

Within the next decade northern Europe will face a transition into a climate zone of ever hotter summers. Private homes and modern cities are not well suited to face the heat waves and will have to circumvent large structural adaptations by inefficient short term solutions. Such could be for instance the installation of air conditions, mobile or permanently installed. Considering the cooling industries contribution to global CO2 emission, this tendency has to be forestalled. One solution that is currently in the up-trend of development is the use of radiatively cooling material. Instead of simply shading the sun, these composite materials radiate heat into the outer layers of the atmosphere. Effectively, they are cooling down earth itself.

Radiative Cooling

The principle behind this technology is simple: a material compound reflects a large percentage of the suns radiation it is exposed to and simultaneously emits radiation due to its intrinsic temperature (black body radiation). The novelty here is that the emitted radiation does not heat up the the air around the material but is such that the radiation escapes to space. Therefore, the material can stay (significantly) below ambient temperature even when exposed directly to sunlight, without any power input. Applications are plentiful and range from high-temperature air conditioning to reflective roof installations. With this project we aim for establishing, jointly with a US based start-up, a real alternative for air conditioning in terms of foliations and shutter constructions for private homes. The first patents are already pending.
